Cavendish’s Horses, Bolsover Castle, Derbyshire
April 17, 2016 @ 11:30 am - May 22, 2016 @ 3:30 pm
Witness expert horsemen in flamboyant 17th century costume, training for art and battle to baroque music in the spectacular surroundings of the Riding School at Bolsover Castle.
Behold breath-taking displays of horses in training as they refine the methods created by one of the great equestrian masters, William Cavendish. With their elegant Spanish Horses, the Atkinson Action Horses will amaze you with a demonstration of skilled horsemanship displaying the complicated movements of Cavendish’s time which are still relevant today.
See the Riding School brought to life at one of our Cavalier Horsemanship displays set to evocative Baroque music (weekends April to September). The riders are clothed in the frills, feathers and high boots of the period and expertly demonstrate moves that we know today as dressage.
Suitable for all, perfect for families and those interested in horses and horse riding. Please note that photography and filming is prohibited during the displays.
